Engaging Role in Laser and Materials Innovation:
Our organization is dedicated to crafting sophisticated system solutions in the realms of laser and materials technology. Within the domain of PVD and Nanotechnology, the Reactive Multilayer Group (RMS) at our institute is pioneering a novel and effective joining technology (Reactive Multilayers - Fraunhofer IWS). This technology facilitates the joining of diverse materials in a remarkably short duration. As part of an ongoing research initiative, the connections established using RMS are to be rigorously examined to validate their characteristics and assess the performance of the reactive joining technology. One focus of this project involves characterizing the thermal and electrical conductivity of these connections. This will entail setting up the system technology and performing measurements, including analysis, as part of a student project.

We are currently in search of a driven student to join our team and contribute to the advancement of reactive multilayer technology - Topic: Assessment of electrical and thermal conductivity of multimaterial connections bonded with reactive multilayers (RMS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, executing, documenting, and analyzing joining experiments
  • Deposition of reactive nanometer multilayers utilizing Magnetron Sputter Deposition (MSD)
  • Conducting supplementary analytics
  • Data Science and data visualization
  • Preparing presentations and conducting research

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a technical or scientific discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science)
  • Genuine interest in applied research and development
