Product Development Manager

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
Oversee the product development lifecycle for designated styles from the initial seasonal kickoff to final commercialization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain insights into consumer preferences and market dynamics relevant to the targeted activities. Partner with internal departments and suppliers to ensure a seamless transition from concept/design to development, achieving 'buy-ready' commercialization on schedule, within the established margin parameters, and meeting quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the cross-functional team to interpret consumer insights and activity focus, translating these into performance apparel development, construction, and testing specifications. Participate in a cross-functional team to coordinate and manage the creation process, ensuring alignment sessions and handovers are conducted according to the seasonal timeline. Relay all essential development information to Marketing, Design, Suppliers, and LO/OC to facilitate the efficient creation of exceptional products. Ensure target pricing and product designs are synchronized through predictive costing. Review, validate, and approve T1 costing information throughout the entire creation process, ensuring adherence to agreed standards and negotiating with T1 as necessary. Manage the transition from design to T1, ensuring all information provided is comprehensive. Oversee T1 feedback to design and marketing, integrating improvements where quality or cost can be enhanced without compromising product aesthetics. Guarantee timely and precise data entry by T1 regarding AD/BOM, costing, or other necessary data at key calendar milestones. Assess all prototypes for compliance with AD, oversee fit approval/size specifications, and approve color, accessories, and materials while managing comments to T1. Ensure that all materials, accessories, and prototypes undergo testing and comply with quality, safety, and A01 standards. Address quality exceptions with senior management as needed. If necessary, review size sets for measurement accuracy and overall merchantability of the complete size range, including logo placement and fit. Review and approve sealing samples with complete AD, including all related documentation prior to buy-ready deadlines, ensuring full compliance with published policies for final product legality. Investigate innovations from the market or supply chain regarding garment construction, pattern/fit, embellishments, and trims. Collaborate cross-functionally with BOPS teams, aIT, Sourcing, and T1/T2 to integrate these innovations into product creation.Key Relationships:
Design, Marketing, and Product Operations – Development, Materials, Costing, Pattern Maker, Testing T1 - Merchandising and Patternmaking LO/OC Merchandising, Technical Services, and CostingKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to translate consumer preferences and activity requirements into apparel constructions. Knowledge of material construction and associated testing methodologies. Understanding of wear and physical product testing protocols. Familiarity with production garment construction and manufacturing processes. Capability to fit garments and provide constructive feedback to T1 on necessary adjustments. Knowledge of costing principles and negotiation skills as required. Strong communication and negotiation abilities. Comprehension of the respective vision and strategy for the brands, with the ability to convey this to LO/OC/T1, along with the success criteria needed from sourcing and T1 teams. Proficiency in English (both written and spoken). Advanced IT skills (MS Office) and experience with Product Data Management Systems. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
College or University degree in clothing technology and/or manufacturing or equivalent education. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the garment/textile industry in a development/creation/production-focused role.-
