About Ubisoft Mainz: Located in a historic German city, Ubisoft Mainz is at the forefront of developing some of Ubisoft's most significant titles. The studio is known for pushing genre boundaries with acclaimed projects like Anno 1800 and is heavily involved in AAA co-development efforts, including the highly anticipated Beyond Good And Evil 2.

Role Overview: As a Technical Director, you will guide the vision and direction of our Tech-Art, Engine, UI, Tools, and Graphics Programming Teams within a collaborative development environment. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure a unified direction that aligns with the overarching project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide mentorship to the Programming and Technical Art Teams, fostering the growth of new leaders through autonomy and coaching.
  • Collaborate with Directors and Producers to synchronize high-level visions and objectives.
  • Establish guidelines to facilitate technical execution.
  • Contribute to strategic studio initiatives, including recruitment, investment, and training.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality game components across all target platforms.
  • Define technical requirements and constraints to realize the creative vision.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leading technical teams with a focus on Servant Leadership principles.
  • Continuous engagement with industry trends and emerging technologies related to game programming.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to challenge conventional thinking and shape future directions.
  • Comfortable navigating complex environments with a willingness to take calculated risks.
  • Ambitious in pursuit of excellence, balancing team support with the need for accountability.
  • Hands-on experience across various programming domains, including gameplay, AI, engine, rendering, tools, online, audio, and physics.
  • Strong understanding of interconnected fields such as game design, art, and production.
  • Familiarity with procedural generation techniques is advantageous.
  • Experience in shipping multiple game titles.
