Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) serves as the backbone of our cloud services. As a CO+I Edge CE FSE, you will play a vital role in delivering the essential infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent AND industry experience in a data center or other critical environment facility, OR industry experience combined with college coursework.Background Check Requirements:
Meeting Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements is essential for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will require passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU) or IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling). Bachelor's Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services. Experience working on large-scale CE projects. Experience with the operation of IT infrastructure (Servers, SANs, Networking, etc.).Responsibilities
Data Center Operations
Ensure compliance with data center business units and service-level policies for Edge Critical Environments (CE). Collaborate with appropriate teams and resources to execute CE tasks or projects. Manage CE programs associated with the area of responsibility. Review and advise on Edge contract processes, contract language, and supporting documentation. Deliver new Edge Data Centers in partnership with our collaborators by providing onsite expertise and reviews. Adhere to safety and security policies and procedures, reporting any safety or security issues immediately. Participate in the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process as appropriate.Service Delivery
Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in conjunction with our landlord partners at Edge facilities. Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in our leased Data Centers (MOP/SOP/EOP review, RCAs, FMEAs, change governance, and risk mitigation). Reduce high-impact and human-error Critical Environment (CE) related incidents year over year. Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within our leased data centers. Coordinate, plan, schedule, and supervise on-premises CE audits and compliance verification as needed. Ensure delivery and review of routine reporting to effectively manage and analyze our Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity, and SLAs. Establish and enhance strong working relationships and engagement with our Engineering Groups (EGs) and landlord partners. Collaborate with regional and global peers to share and build best CE practices across the entire EDGE portfolio.Data Center Work Environment
Share best CE practices; assist others in learning roles, processes, and procedures. Provide mentorship across data centers for CE-specific expertise. Seek training opportunities that align with business interests as well as personal career goals and objectives. Suggest ways to reduce the risk of performing maintenance; work with others to accommodate scheduling needs. Propose improvements in implementation based on depth of understanding. Contribute to a positive team environment by learning and adopting best practices. Engage constructively during team meetings and in cross-disciplinary collaborations within the service team.Ownership
