Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) serves as the backbone of our cloud services. As a CO+I Edge CE FSE, you will play a crucial role in delivering the essential infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND industry experience in a datacenter or other critical environment facility, OR industry experience coupled with relevant college coursework.

Candidates must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements for this role, which include specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position requires passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU) or IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling).
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services.
  • Experience in managing large-scale CE projects.
  • Familiarity with the operation of IT infrastructure (Servers, SANs, Networking, etc.).

Responsibilities

Data Center Operations

  • Ensure compliance with data center business units and service-level policies for Edge Critical Environments (CE).
  • Collaborate with relevant teams and resources to execute CE tasks or projects.
  • Manage CE programs related to your area of responsibility.
  • Review and provide insights on Edge contract processes, contract language, and supporting documentation.
  • Deliver new Edge Datacenters in partnership with our collaborators by providing onsite expertise and evaluations.
  • Adhere to safety and security policies and procedures, reporting any safety or security concerns immediately.
  • Participate in the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process as necessary.

Service Delivery

  • Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in collaboration with our landlord partners at Edge facilities.
  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in our leased Datacenters (MOP/SOP/EOP review, RCAs, FMEAs, change governance, and risk mitigation).
  • Reduce high-impact and human-error related incidents in Critical Environment (CE) year over year.
  • Serve as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within our leased datacenters.
  • Coordinate, plan, schedule, and supervise on-site CE audits and compliance verification as needed.
  • Ensure the delivery and review of routine reporting to effectively manage and analyze our Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity, and SLAs.
  • Establish and enhance strong working relationships with our Engineering Groups (EGs) and landlord partners.
  • Collaborate with regional and global peers to share and develop best CE practices across the entire EDGE portfolio.

Data Center Work Environment

  • Share best CE practices and assist others in learning roles, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide mentorship across data centers for CE-specific expertise.
  • Seek training opportunities that align with business interests and personal career goals.
  • Propose methods for reducing maintenance risks and accommodate scheduling needs.
  • Suggest improvements in implementation based on a thorough understanding of processes.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by adopting and sharing best practices.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and cross-disciplinary collaborations within the service team.

Ownership

  • In alignment with management priorities, hold yourself accountable for the end-to-end service quality, completeness, and resulting customer experience (including but not limited to availability, safety, security, and customer service).
  • Support the escalation of issues to the appropriate owner.
