Senior Account Executive, Life Sciences

Certara is seeking an experienced Enterprise Account Manager to lead our Software division, with a focus on expanding our market presence among established Enterprise Life Sciences organizations in Northern Europe. The successful candidate will ideally be based in the United Kingdom and will work remotely.
In this position, you will cultivate a deep understanding of Certara's software offerings and collaborate closely to enhance our existing business through a direct sales approach, while also leveraging synergies with other divisions and strategic partners as necessary. A solid grasp of the industry landscape, including competitive dynamics and key challenges, is essential for effectively positioning our software solutions within your designated accounts and territory.
This role demands a proactive mindset, self-drive, and the ability to collaborate with both internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong aptitude for complex sales and possess a genuine enthusiasm for driving sales growth through relationship-building with clients and prospects.
You will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing strategies aimed at increasing business within assigned accounts while also identifying and capturing new opportunities. A significant emphasis will be placed on discovering, nurturing, and closing new business deals.
It is crucial to remain attuned to growth initiatives within the life sciences sector and to understand how Certara's solutions can meet the evolving needs of our customers. Ultimately, you will be accountable for achieving bookings and revenue growth by delivering value to your clients.
ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain relationships at multiple levels within your accounts, engaging with influencers and decision-makers, including C-level executives.
• Assess potential clients to identify their key needs and challenges through thorough discovery and qualification processes.
• Drive sales by initiating contact with new clients, generating leads, and following up on assigned opportunities.
• Identify and actively pursue new clients within the life sciences sector.
• Enhance sales through value-based approaches and effective solutions linkage.
• Create tailored client presentations and contribute to the proposal process, developing winning strategies based on a deep understanding of client requirements and linking them to Certara's software solutions.
• Collaborate with marketing to devise lead-generation strategies that will foster new revenue opportunities in your territory.
• Participate in industry trade shows and conferences, engaging with clients and generating leads.
• Maintain detailed records of communications and opportunity developments to ensure a comprehensive history of interactions and next steps.
• Utilize market insights and industry connections to drive growth in the Software business in alignment with commercial objectives, including exploring new product opportunities and expanding existing accounts.
• Achieve or exceed sales targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Adhere to Certara's processes and best practices for managing Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs).
• Actively participate in sales meetings, providing accurate forecasts and updates as required. Qualifications
• 5-8+ years of proven experience in selling SaaS enterprise software solutions, preferably within the life sciences sector.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an advanced business degree is preferred.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail for documenting all sales interactions in Salesforce.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-energy team environment.
• Proficient in the MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated track record of high sales performance in a competitive market.
• Fluent in English.
