Director of Junior Research Group in Immunotherapy Engineering

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly innovative and collaborative leader to manage an independent Junior Research Group focused on Target Screening and Immunoreceptor Engineering for Immunotherapy at NCT WERA.
The National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) represents a significant partnership among the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and leading university medical institutions across Germany. The NCT is dedicated to advancing clinical trials that translate laboratory discoveries into effective treatments, emphasizing personalized oncology and patient engagement in research.
Research Group ObjectivesThe successful candidate will be responsible for spearheading research aimed at generating engineered immune cells and performing clinical evaluations of tumor antigen expression. This work will facilitate the development of Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs), enabling effective stratification and ongoing assessment of therapeutic responses and resistance mechanisms.
Candidate ProfileThe ideal applicant will possess:
- A Master's degree and PhD in biology or a related field, or an MD degree.
- Significant postdoctoral experience (2-6 years) in target screening or immunoreceptor engineering.
- A strong publication record demonstrating research excellence.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate research initiatives and develop innovative ideas for IITs.
- A high level of motivation to independently pursue funding opportunities and lead a growing research team.
- A commitment to fostering collaborations and contributing to the local research community.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to thrive in an international research setting.
