Role Overview

  • You will be an integral part of the Telematics Development Team within the SBU Connectivity, collaborating closely with the HW/ME-Engineering & Integration Group.
  • Your responsibilities will encompass mechanical design, development, and modifications utilizing CAD tools such as PTC Creo and CATIA, alongside prototyping and engineering validation.
  • You will spearhead the advancement of innovative mechanical technologies for Connectivity, Telematics, and Intelligent Cockpit applications, focusing on cost-effectiveness, reliability, and continuous improvement while leading failure analysis and problem-solving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary mechanical designer throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality project delivery.
  • Conduct mechanical design and development tasks using CAD tools, including requirements analysis, tolerance studies, thermal assessments, and the creation of 3D models and technical specifications.
  • Generate detailed drawings for parts and assemblies, ensuring compliance with all relevant dimensions, tolerances, and standards.
  • Select materials with sustainability in mind and collaborate with suppliers on tooling design and feasibility studies.
  • Support project-specific activities, including technical reporting and presentations, while ensuring adherence to timing, cost, and quality benchmarks.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with departments such as Hardware, Manufacturing, and Quality during the development process.
  • Contribute to the refinement of mechanical development processes and design standards.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Proficiency in automotive electronic packaging and related technologies is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding, sheet metal, and die-casting processes.
  • Familiarity with waterproof electronic enclosure design and FEA/DFMEA techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and a solid command of English.
  • Proficient in CAD systems, particularly PTC/Creo, and basic knowledge of PLM/PDM systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating strong analytical skills.
