Role Overview

  • The successful candidate will integrate into the Telematics Development Team within the SBU Connectivity, collaborating closely with the Team Leader and Hardware Engineering Director.
  • Responsibilities include mechanical design, development, and modifications utilizing CAD tools such as PTC Creo and CATIA, alongside prototyping and engineering validation.
  • You will spearhead the development of new mechanical technologies for Connectivity, Telematics, and Intelligent Cockpit applications, ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability while driving continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary mechanical designer throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality project delivery.
  • Conduct mechanical design and development using CAD tools, including requirements analysis, tolerance studies, thermal assessments, and creating detailed 3D models and technical specifications.
  • Generate precise drawings for parts and assemblies, incorporating all necessary dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Select sustainable materials, review tooling designs, and engage in technical discussions with suppliers regarding feasibility and quality improvements.
  • Assist in project-specific activities, ensuring compliance with timing, cost, and quality standards while preparing technical documentation and presentations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments during the development process in a global context.
  • Adhere to established mechanical development processes and contribute to ongoing process enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Proficient in automotive electronic packaging and related mechanical design.
  • Solid understanding of plastic injection molding, sheet metal, and die casting processes.
  • Experience with waterproof electronic enclosure design and knowledge of FEA and DFMEA techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems and the ability to perform fundamental engineering calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
