At Volocopter, we are at the forefront of electric air mobility, developing innovative solutions for urban transportation through electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOLs). Our journey began in 2011 with the first crewed flight of a fully electric multicopter, and we have since completed over 2,000 test flights globally.

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the requirements for systems, subsystems, and equipment within the Avionics sector.
  • Validate requirements and assist in verification processes.
  • Address issues and manage change requests related to the assigned systems.
  • Organize and conduct design reviews for systems and components, both internally and with external suppliers.
  • Support development assurance activities, including system audits to demonstrate compliance with ARP 4754A.
  • Prepare and conduct reviews, analyses, and tests related to data-bus designs.
  • Generate compliance evidence necessary for certification, including test plans and analysis reports.
  • Facilitate integration of newly developed and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment, reviewing test procedures and conducting environmental qualification gap analyses.
  • Collaborate closely with specialists across various disciplines.
  • Engage in communication with certification authorities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, communications engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in aerospace development.
  • Familiarity with Avionics functions and technologies, including communication, navigation, surveillance, and data recording.
  • In-depth knowledge of ARP4754A and DO-160 standards.
  • Understanding of certification deliverables for Type Certificate programs in CS-25/23/29/27.
  • Proven experience in requirements engineering using tools such as Integrity or DOORS.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with data-bus systems (e.g., CAN, A-429, RS-485).
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers for development and integration of aircraft systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, troubleshooting capabilities, and a methodical approach.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with software and airborne electronic hardware standards DO-178 and DO-254.
  • Previous work experience in an EASA approved Design Organization (Part21J) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ARINC-825 Bus systems.
