Job Title: Avionics System Engineer

At Volocopter GmbH, we are seeking a highly skilled Avionics System Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in the development of our electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate system engineering processes aligned with development lifecycle needs, including requirements management and program milestone deliverables.
  • Facilitate integration activities of newly developed and COTS equipment, including planning integration tests, reviewing test procedures, and conducting environmental qualification gap analysis.
  • Act as liaison between lab test team and flight test team to coordinate verification activities.
  • Support validation and verification activities of the whole Avionics system.
  • Support system level/component level milestones, including PDR/CDR/TRR.
  • Support development assurance activities, including system audits with authorities for ARP-4754A compliance demonstration.
  • Generate compliance evidence for certification, including certification plans, test plans, design reviews, and analysis reports.
  • Provide support for formal audits and exchanges with EASA.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in aerospace development.
  • Good knowledge and practical expertise on the system development lifecycle according to ARP4754A.
  • Experience in Avionics functions and technology for communication, navigation, surveillance, indication, crew alerting, and data recording.
  • Knowledge of certification deliverables for Type Certificate programs in CS-25/23/29/27 programs.
  • Knowledge of aviation standards such as ARP4761 and DO-160.
  • Thorough analytical skills and a structured approach for getting things done.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with software and airborne electronic hardware standards DO-178 and DO-254.
  • Experience in working in EASA-approved Design Organization (Part21J) is preferable.
