Internship in NMR Pulse Analysis for Electrochemical Research

Position Overview:

At Forschungszentrum Jülich, we are pioneering innovative interdisciplinary approaches to explore critical mechanisms in battery technology and electrolysis through pulsed NMR techniques. By delving into the spin states that require experimental preparation, we are customizing magnetic pulses to enhance the capabilities of NMR in real-time experiments, examining interfaces and membranes, for instance. A thorough characterization of these pulses is essential for an optimized workflow. This project centers on the implementation and evaluation of a cutting-edge spectrogram pulse analysis technique. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Adapting a leading spectrogram module for pulse sequence analysis from Matlab to Python
  • Validating the spectrogram module against various established pulse sequences
  • Collaborating with experimental NMR spectroscopists
  • Analyzing the impact of electrochemical NMR setups on spin state preparation using spectrograms

Candidate Profile:

  • Currently pursuing a master's degree in chemistry, physics, data science, computer science, or a related discipline
  • Fundamental knowledge of NMR spectroscopy is required
  • Proficiency in Python programming is essential
  • Familiarity with the basics of electrochemistry and spin dynamics is advantageous
  • A keen interest in interdisciplinary research projects and the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Capacity to demonstrate initiative and work autonomously in a structured manner
  • Strong command of written and spoken English
