Lead Technology Strategist – Power Electronics

Eaton is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of:

Senior Technology Manager – Power Electronics (m/f/n)

Location: Flexible across Germany

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the initiation and implementation of cutting-edge technology initiatives, utilizing funding from German and European governmental sources in collaboration with both internal and external partners.
  • Lead a team of engineers and scientists specializing in diverse technological domains within the Power Electronics Technologies Department of Eaton's Corporate Research Organization, providing strategic direction and mentorship.
  • Drive technology realization initiatives by applying Eaton's internal project management methodologies.
  • Enhance communication and collaboration among Eaton's various locations regionally and globally.
  • Collaborate closely with a team of experts in various technology sectors that contribute to Eaton's Power Electronics Technologies Department.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop and submit research proposals aimed at securing government funding to propel advancements in Power Electronics pertinent to Eaton, while fostering relationships with the external technical community.
  • Formulate and manage technology roadmaps and strategies relevant to the European market, alongside cultivating and managing connections with Eaton stakeholders, including engineering teams and government program representatives.
  • Implement technology realization programs using internal project control frameworks, while providing leadership and guidance to the technical staff.
  • Report directly to the VP of Engineering & Technology EMEA and functionally to the Global Technology Manager.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or MSc in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the power and energy systems sector.
  • Extensive R&D experience in areas such as power electronics, power systems, DC distribution, microgrids, protection systems, power conversion, renewable energy integration, and motor controls.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing EU and German government-funded projects aimed at advancing research and product development in the power and energy sector, in collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing power electronics laboratories and experimental setups.
  • Strong background in program management, new product development, and innovation processes.
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities.
  • Proven track record in new technology development involving multiple stakeholders within a matrixed organization across various technological fields.
  • Business acumen with a solid history of crafting compelling value propositions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both English and German (oral and written).
