Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Biology

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to engage in innovative research at the intersection of computational and developmental biology. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing advanced algorithms aimed at elucidating cellular differentiation pathways within the developing embryo, utilizing a variety of data sources including time-resolved single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and lineage tracing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement novel computational methods to analyze and interpret complex biological data.
  • Integrate spatial transcriptomics with other data types, such as single-cell transcriptomic profiles and advanced imaging techniques.
  • Conduct comparative analyses of embryonic development across multiple species, including humans, fish, and avian models, as well as synthetic embryo systems.
  • Investigate and compare the development of synthetic organoids with natural embryonic processes.
  • Collaborate closely with experimental biologists to ensure alignment between computational models and experimental findings.
  • Contribute actively to a multidisciplinary team comprising data scientists and both computational and experimental biologists.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in computational sciences, natural sciences, or a related discipline.
  • A strong foundation in computational or quantitative methods, with a focus on computational biology, bioinformatics, or mathematics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R; experience in developing efficient and reusable software is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration with team members and external partners.
  • Solid understanding of statistical principles and familiarity with contemporary machine learning techniques.
  • Ability to work autonomously and tackle complex analytical challenges.
