Position Overview
The research team led by Jan Dörr at the ECRC, Charité and Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine, is in search of a postdoctoral scientist specializing in molecular cancer biology.
Our laboratory focuses on understanding the causes and implications of tumor heterogeneity and treatment resistance in pediatric cancers. We are a diverse and international group of dedicated scientists and medical professionals, equipped with access to cutting-edge facilities at Charité and MDC, offering numerous opportunities for translational research in pediatric oncology.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a recent PhD graduate or a postdoctoral researcher with a background in cancer biology, biochemistry, or molecular oncology, eager to explore fundamental questions regarding tumor heterogeneity and therapy resistance in both in vitro and in vivo settings. Applicants with substantial experience in tumor biology, functional proteomics, and signal transduction are particularly encouraged to apply.
Research Responsibilities
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other research teams within the collaborative research center CRC1588: Decoding and Targeting Mechanisms of Neuroblastoma Evolution, which is supported by the German Research Foundation. The role involves assessing the influence of genetic and phenotypic tumor heterogeneity on therapy resistance in neuroblastoma cell lines, patient-derived xenografts (PDX), and clinical samples before and after treatment with various therapies, aiming to identify and evaluate new therapeutic vulnerabilities.
He/She will engage in advanced research within a collaborative, well-funded environment, with access to shared resources for sequencing, bioinformatics, imaging, metabolomics, flow cytometry, molecular pathology, and mouse genome engineering. Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with CRC research groups, particularly the Mertins group at MDC, as well as international partnerships, will be available.
Expectations
- Recent PhD or postdoctoral experience in cancer biology, biochemistry, or molecular medicine.

- Proficiency in techniques for analyzing cell lines through functional genomics, molecular biology, and molecular medicine.
- Experience in transcriptomic and proteomic data analysis, with a basic understanding of programming, preferably in R.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a laboratory setting and with international partners, effectively communicating scientific concepts in English.
