Position Overview
The Bilingual Language Specialist - French Canadian is responsible for executing quality assurance tasks and providing on-demand translation services. This role involves taking the lead on linguistic functions for designated projects, coordinating the efforts of a team of translators for specific accounts, mentoring and developing freelance linguists, and ensuring that all work meets high standards of quality and is completed within established deadlines. The specialist will also ensure adherence to the Language Process by the project and account teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting quality assurance tasks on assigned projects or accounts (English to French Canadian);
- Performing on-demand translation services (English to French Canadian);
- Executing trans-creation, translation, and post-editing tasks (English to French Canadian);
- Handling various translation-related administrative tasks (English to French Canadian);
- Managing project-related inquiries;
- Preparing, overseeing, and maintaining language materials (including glossaries, style guides, and work instructions) to ensure they meet quality standards;
- Engaging with clients on linguistic issues as necessary;
- Training and developing new and existing freelance linguists according to the needs of the accounts and Welocalize;
- Facilitating effective communication among team members and resolving terminology and language-related questions;
- Contributing to the development of new and improved operational processes;
- Meeting the objectives set by the French Team Lead.
Qualifications
- University degree in Translation/Applied Languages or a comparable combination of education and experience;
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the translation and localization sector.
Essential Skills
- Fluency in French Canadian (native proficiency) and English, both written and spoken;
- Experience in translating for Mobile Applications, Search Engines, IT Consumer Products, Entertainment, Marketing, Software User Interfaces, and Websites is advantageous;
- Strong linguistic intuition for both source and target languages;
- Familiarity with terminology in IT consumer products, social media, and entertainment;
- Comprehensive understanding of the localization process;
- Proficient in standard software applications, including Windows and Office, as well as standard CAT tools;
- Ability to quickly learn new localization tools and applications;
- Capable of effectively presenting information and addressing inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and translators;
- Able to work under tight deadlines;
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
- Willingness and ability to train and mentor others;
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a virtual team environment.
