Role Overview:
We are seeking a Team Lead at our Cologne facility to oversee the advancement of Lonza's transfection products. In this role, you will guide a team of Research Assistants, facilitating their professional growth and development while steering the project towards success.
Candidates should possess a solid understanding of gene editing techniques, alongside comprehensive knowledge in molecular biology, cell biology, and cell-based analytical methods. While prior management experience is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement. This position may involve occasional travel for conferences and client engagements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead the development of innovative cell engineering products and applications tailored for bioresearch, pharmaceutical discovery, and bioprocessing sectors. Supervise Research Associates, assess performance, establish personal development plans, and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner. Design and implement current cell engineering projects involving primary cells and cell lines (e.g., CRISPR/Cas or transposition-based gene editing), including the planning and execution of experiments, data analysis, and preparation of results. Independently plan and execute scientific methodologies and strategies closely related to cell and gene therapy applications. Present project updates and outcomes at departmental meetings and prepare professional presentations for national and international scientific conferences. Continuously enhance skills and knowledge by engaging with current literature, collaborating with scientists and industry experts, and attending relevant scientific conferences.Essential Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant biological discipline. Extensive knowledge and proficiency in designing and implementing gene editing methodologies, particularly in CRISPR and related cell and gene therapy applications. A strong customer-oriented mindset, understanding the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. Broad expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, and cell-based analytical techniques. Previous experience in team management or developing team members is preferred.
