Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Team Lead at our Cologne facility to spearhead the advancement of Lonza's transfection product line. In this pivotal role, you will guide a team of Research Assistants, nurturing their professional growth while driving the development of cutting-edge gene editing technologies.
Candidates should possess a strong foundation in gene editing techniques, alongside comprehensive knowledge in molecular biology, cell biology, and analytical methods. While prior management experience is beneficial, it is not a strict requirement. This position may involve occasional travel for conferences and client engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the creation of innovative cell engineering products and applications aimed at bioresearch, pharmaceutical discovery, and bioprocessing markets. Supervise and mentor Research Associates, evaluate performance, establish personal development plans, and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner. Design and implement current cell engineering projects utilizing primary cells and cell lines (e.g., CRISPR/Cas or transposition-based gene editing), including the planning and execution of experiments, data analysis, and preparation of findings. Independently plan and execute scientific methodologies closely related to cell and gene therapy applications. Present project updates and outcomes at departmental meetings, and prepare professional presentations for national and international scientific gatherings. Continuously enhance your skill set and knowledge by engaging with current literature, collaborating with fellow scientists and industry experts, and attending relevant scientific conferences.Essential Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent level of expertise in a relevant biological discipline. Extensive knowledge and experience in designing and implementing gene editing techniques, particularly CRISPR and related cell and gene therapy applications. A strong customer-oriented mindset, with an understanding of the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. Broad expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, and cell-based analytical methods. Previous experience in team management or developing team members is advantageous.
