Role Overview

As the Business Lead for Space 5, you will become an integral part of the Car Audio Business Unit within HARMAN's Automotive Division. Collaborating with a dedicated team, you will focus on defining, designing, and creating next-generation sound experiences.

With the growing utilization of vehicle sound systems for communication, alerts, and immersive audio from consumer devices, the automotive industry is increasingly prioritizing comprehensive sound experiences. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working closely with HARMAN's EPIC innovation and technology team, HUEMEN research and UX design team, as well as our esteemed Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing teams. Your role will involve establishing the brand promise, strategy, and product families for future generations of HARMAN-branded sound systems across our automotive brands, in alignment with our OEM partners and future initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify market gaps and generate innovative ideas that enhance consumer experiences while addressing OEM partner challenges and aligning with HARMAN's business objectives.
  • Define and articulate unique system, product, and brand value propositions that distinguish HARMAN from competitors, driving revenue and profit growth.
  • Translate consumer insights, customer feedback, and technology roadmaps into cohesive branded system definitions, supporting component productization and marketing initiatives.
  • Manage structured reviews of branded system concepts, adapting to changes as necessary to align with strategic company directions.
  • Deliver comprehensive system and branded system-level Market Requirements Documents (MRDs) and Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) with prioritized features.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure timely market delivery with optimal resource utilization.
  • Analyze market data to identify trends in technology, system architecture, and product requirements, defining necessary specifications.
  • Foster relationships within and outside HARMAN to leverage technologies that benefit our diverse business landscape.
  • Develop core value propositions, brand positioning, and messaging for HARMAN's suite of branded systems.
  • Identify Go-To-Market strategies for all branded audio systems, activating multiple brands with major OEMs.
  • Drive early development phases, including ideation, MRD/PRD creation, and pre-development activities.
  • Support product development and launch efforts by collaborating with engineering, marketing, and public relations teams.
  • Develop sales tools and collateral in partnership with marketing teams.
  • Provide training and briefings for the sales force during quarterly meetings.
  • Define cost targets for branded systems in collaboration with customer groups and product management colleagues.
  • Recommend pricing strategies based on competitive analysis and margin considerations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business with relevant sound domain experience.
  • Over 10 years of experience in sound system hardware and software architecture, design, and development.
  • More than 10 years of product management experience, with a proven track record in B2B or B2B2C products.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the automotive sector and agile technology development.
  • Strong aptitude for integrating diverse information streams into cohesive brand strategies.
  • Curiosity and knowledge of market trends across various industries.
  • Proven customer orientation and credibility as a collaborative partner.
  • Experience in a matrix, global, cross-functional organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop product and marketing strategies and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Solid technical background with hands-on experience in software development; automotive experience is a plus.
  • Appreciation for user experience and design principles.

Additional Preferences

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Entrepreneurial experience.
  • Experience in the sound software domain, particularly in voice and audio management.
  • Senior pre-sales or business development experience.
  • Experience in branded audio system design and development.
