Engineering and Quality Director – Custom Worktops

Position Overview:
The Engineering & Quality Leader for Custom Made Worktops will be a pivotal member of the Category Management Team, directly reporting to the Engineering & Quality Manager. This role is integral to the Electronics & Home Accessories Quality matrix, where you will spearhead the engineering and quality initiatives aligned with the category's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the engineering and quality strategy for the category in collaboration with Business Teams, Category Manager, and Engineering and Quality Manager.
- Foster and implement leadership capabilities within the category and among suppliers to ensure uniformity in quality advancement.
- Guarantee the application of Quality & Lean Manufacturing methodologies across business development teams and suppliers.
- Lead both local and global engineering, improvement, quality, and compliance projects involving Production and Product engineers.
- Evaluate customer feedback and development initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Engage in product development initiatives (New, Move, Improve) focusing on engineering and quality aspects.
- Collaborate with business development teams to enforce quality assurance at supplier locations, enabling them to take full ownership of their quality performance.
- Ensure the retention of category-specific knowledge and skills through a Skill Matrix for all engineering personnel.
- Act as a representative of IKEA values and exemplify fact-based business leadership.
Material Ownership Responsibilities:
The Engineering and Quality Leader will also undertake a Material Owner Assignment, which encompasses responsibilities from the creation of Material Direction to the approval of new materials, risk assessment, and the identification of relevant requirements and testing methodologies.

Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in delivering results while leading and developing both business operations and personnel.
- Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools.
- In-depth knowledge of materials and associated production processes.
- Familiarity with Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) frameworks, including production processes, process control, cost estimation, and materials.
- Proficient in Project Management tools.
Internal Expectations:
- Comprehensive knowledge of IKEA Purchasing Manual and Supplier Development Process (SDP).
- Understanding of IKEA Business Plan Process, Purchase Development Process (PDP), Develop Product Offer process (DPOP), Product Requirements, and Specifications.
- Strong familiarity with IKEA Supplier Operating Standard (ISOS).
- Ability to build and execute Category plans effectively.
- Insight into how daily operations contribute to customer value through Democratic Design.
- Awareness of IKEA Strategic Landscape, particularly in Purchasing and Quality Strategies, as well as the Business Model for growth.
Your Role in Summary:
With a comprehensive and analytical perspective, you will lead the business while keeping the customer, supplier, total IKEA, and quality considerations at the forefront. You will be capable of operating at both operational and tactical levels, always aligned with the business strategy. Your analytical skills will enable you to draw conclusions that support sound business decisions. You will excel in delivering results by engaging, leading, developing, and inspiring individuals in a remote setting, acting as both a coach and mentor. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential for clear and effective communication.
