The Engineering and Quality Leader for Custom Made Worktops will be an integral part of the Category Management Team, reporting directly to the Engineering & Quality Manager. This role is pivotal in steering the engineering and quality initiatives within the Custom Made Worktops category, ensuring alignment with the overarching business strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the engineering and quality strategy for the category in collaboration with Business Teams and the Category Manager.
- Foster leadership capabilities within the category and among suppliers to ensure uniformity in quality enhancement.
- Implement Quality & Lean Manufacturing methodologies across business development teams and suppliers.
- Lead local and global engineering, improvement, quality, and compliance projects involving Production and Product engineers.
- Evaluate customer feedback and development initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Engage in product development initiatives focusing on engineering and quality aspects.
- Collaborate with business development teams to enforce quality assurance at supplier facilities, empowering them to take full ownership of their quality performance.
- Maintain category-specific knowledge and competencies through a Skill Matrix for all engineering personnel.
- Act as a champion of company values and a role model for data-driven business leadership.
Material Ownership Responsibilities:
This role includes a Material Owner Assignment, which encompasses responsibilities from the creation of Material Direction to the approval of new materials, risk assessment, and the identification of related requirements and testing methodologies.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate who can navigate a global landscape and lead the engineering and quality agenda effectively.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrated success in achieving results through effective leadership and development of both business operations and personnel.
- Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement principles and tools.
- Comprehensive knowledge of materials and associated production processes.
- Familiarity with Supplier Quality Assurance frameworks, including production processes, process control, cost analysis, and materials.
- Proficient in Project Management methodologies.
Internal Candidates Should Also Possess:
- In-depth knowledge of the Purchasing Manual and Supplier Development Process.
- Understanding of the Business Plan Process, Product Development Process, and Product Requirements and Specifications.
- Thorough knowledge of Supplier Operating Standards.
- Ability to build and execute effective Category plans.
- Insight into how daily activities contribute to customer value through Democratic Design.
- Awareness of the strategic landscape, particularly in Purchasing and Quality strategies.
Your Role in Summary:
With a comprehensive and analytical approach, you will lead the business while considering the needs of customers, suppliers, and the broader organization. You will possess the capability to operate at both operational and tactical levels, ensuring alignment with business strategies. Your analytical skills will enable you to derive insights that support sound business decisions.
