Position Overview
The Customs and Trade Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing all customs and international trade processes within the organization. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure compliance with evolving customs regulations and to mitigate risks associated with customs operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough analyses and continuous improvements of customs and foreign trade processes, ensuring effective implementation across the organization.
- Stay informed on changes in customs legislation and adapt processes accordingly.
- Enhance customs procedures to minimize risks while adhering to local regulations.
- Address and resolve cross-border customs and trade challenges.
- Design and implement an internal communication strategy to promote compliance with customs and export control regulations, including country embargo laws, while fostering awareness among local teams.
- Lead and participate in SAP projects aimed at the implementation of customs processes and the digitization of operations within local subsidiaries.
- Develop comprehensive process guidelines, manuals, and documentation in line with local regulations, and provide relevant training to staff.
- Establish and oversee a group-wide Internal Control Program (ICP) for customs compliance.
- Act as the primary liaison for interface departments and subsidiaries, supporting customs and foreign trade audits.
Candidate Profile
- A degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field.
- Significant experience in customs, logistics, or international trade, with a strong background in project and process management.
- In-depth knowledge of customs and export control regulations.
- Additional qualifications in Customs and Foreign Trade/Customs Compliance Management are advantageous.
- Initial leadership experience is a plus, preferably in customs consulting or management roles.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (especially Excel) and SAP ERP/WMS, including SAP GTS.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English and German.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to convey complex information to various stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as required for the role.
