Communications Officer for Climate Governance (m/f/d)

Role Summary:

The Transparency International Secretariat is currently in search of a Communications Officer (m/f/d) to bolster the Climate Governance Integrity Programme within the Communications Team.

The Communications Officer (m/f/d) is responsible for crafting and executing communication strategies and materials that enhance the understanding of Transparency International's mission, programs, projects, knowledge products, and policy stances.

This role will specifically focus on key initiatives related to climate governance, coordinating the creation and dissemination of various knowledge products, and engaging in advocacy and awareness campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Communications Officer will:

  • Design and implement outreach and communication strategies for the Climate Governance Integrity Programme to achieve advocacy goals.
  • Ensure the successful execution of communication plans for knowledge products, events, and other relevant activities.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and communication agencies.
  • Develop and manage content related to the Climate Governance Integrity Programme across all Transparency International channels, including the website, social media, newsletters, and reports.
  • Identify and capitalize on communication opportunities to enhance the visibility and impact of the Climate Governance Integrity Programme.
  • Work closely with the social media manager to create and implement social media strategies and content that support project priorities.
  • Ensure that all communication outputs meet established quality standards and solicit input from relevant internal experts as needed.
  • Provide communication guidance and capacity-building support to internal teams and national chapters.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies, policies, and procedures, incorporating best practices.
  • Manage media outreach efforts, including building media lists, drafting advisories, responding to inquiries, and preparing spokespersons.
Candidate Profile:
  • University degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Over 5 years of practical experience in communications, journalism, or a related area, preferably within an international or campaigning organization, with a focus on climate issues.
  • Proven experience in media relations and content creation, including articles, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement communication and outreach strategies.
  • Experience working with communication agencies and external partners.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills in English, with a keen attention to detail and a creative approach.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Familiarity with content management systems and basic HTML/CSS, as well as design software.
  • Understanding of video production processes and collaboration with external production teams.
  • Knowledge of analytics tools to assess communication effectiveness and improve strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
