Role OverviewThe Transparency International Secretariat is currently on the lookout for a Communications Officer (m/f/d) to assist the Climate Governance Integrity Programme within the Communications Team.
The Communications Officer (m/f/d) is responsible for crafting and executing communication strategies and materials that enhance and articulate Transparency International's mission, initiatives, projects, knowledge products, and policy stances.
This role specifically targets various external audiences and stakeholders, including the organization’s online followers and media outlets, and is tasked with developing content that effectively conveys Transparency International's messages and positions to these groups.
The Communications Officer will play a crucial role in key projects focused on climate governance, coordinating the production and dissemination of various knowledge products while engaging in advocacy and awareness campaigns.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs part of the Communications Team and reporting to the Head of Communications, the Communications Officer will:
- Design and implement outreach and communication strategies for the Climate Governance Integrity Programme to achieve advocacy goals.
- Oversee the execution of communication plans for knowledge products, events, and other relevant activities.
- Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and communication agencies.
- Generate and manage content related to the Climate Governance Integrity Programme across all Transparency International channels, including the website, social media, newsletters, and reports.
- Identify and utilize communication opportunities to enhance the visibility and impact of the Climate Governance Integrity Programme.
- Work closely with the social media manager to develop and implement social media strategies and content supporting project objectives.
- Ensure all communication outputs meet established quality standards and seek input from relevant internal experts as needed.
- Provide guidance and capacity-building support in communications to TI-S teams and national chapters regarding the Climate Governance Integrity Programme.
- Contribute to the development of strategies, policies, and procedures, incorporating best practices.
- Manage media outreach for the Climate Governance Integrity Programme, including building media lists, drafting advisories, responding to inquiries, and preparing spokespersons.
- University degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Over 5 years of experience in communications, journalism, or a related area, preferably within an international, media, or advocacy organization, with a focus on climate issues.
- Proficient in media relations and content creation, including articles, newsletters, and social media.
- Experience in developing and implementing communication and outreach strategies.
- Strong writing and editing skills in English, with a keen attention to detail and a creative approach.
- Ability to distill complex topics into engaging social media content.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with content management systems and design software is a plus.
- Understanding of video production processes and collaboration with external production teams is desirable.
- Knowledge of analytics tools to assess communication effectiveness and improve strategies.
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages are an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
