Die Aufgaben

The GrawLab within the Department of Medicine 5 works on the modelling and analysis of immune processes in the context of inflammation, infection and cancer. By combining various experimental and clinical data with mathematical models and data analytical methods, we aim at a mechanistic and quantitative understanding of the processes that regulate immune responses and determine disease outcome and therapy. We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student (M/F/d) to work within the joined DFG/ANR-funded project MORIARTY. The project addresses the analysis of co-infection dynamics of respiratory viruses (influenza A, RSV, SARS-CoV-2, Rhino-Viruses) within human airway epithelium, combining data from advanced experimental cell culture systems with mathematical and computational analyses.

**Your tasks**:
Developing multi-scale and multi-cellular models (ODE, Agent-based models) to decipher infection dynamics within human airway epithelium
Data analysis and model parameterization (e.g. statistical methods, machine learning, image analysis)
Interaction with international experimental and methodological collaboration partners

Applicants should hold a MSc degree in computational biology, mathematics, biomedical sciences, (bio-)physics, data science or other related fields
Strong quantitative background desired
High motivation and ability for interdisciplinary work, working at the interface between the life sciences and analytical methods
Ability to work in a collaborative and international research environment
Good programming skills in R, Python and/or C++ Proficiency in English
