Doctoral Student Position

The work group “Radiation Osteoimmunology” (Dr. Lisa Deloch) of the Translational Radiobiology (Prof. Dr. Udo Gaipl) is offering a doctoral student position starting in July 2023. The doctoral student will be working on low ionizing radiation-mediated gender and age specific osteoimmunological effects. A special focus will be set on age, gender and inflammatory background-mediated effects also with regard to radiation protection aspects. The applicant will work on the BMBF-funded, highly translational Junior Project TOGETHER within the NukSiFutur call.
Die Aufgaben
The project is focusing on gender and age specific osteoimmunological responses to low doses of ionizing radiation with x-rays and radon.
The project is especially looking into monocytes, macrophages, T cells as well as B cells of inflamed and healthy model systems.
Methods will include in vitro assays, multicolor flow cytometry, (multiplex) ELISA and colorimetric Assays, qPCR and microscopy.

Applicants with a masters or equivalent degree in life sciences, including biology, immunology, molecular medicine, or related fields.
Highly motivated and curious applicants showing a high degree of intrinsic motivation and independency to bring in their own ideas and to develop the project.
Applicants should have experience in immunology and cell culture.
Experience in flow cytometry and animal models (FELASA B) is a plus.
Proficiency in English speech and writing.
