About us


The Fibral Material Alliance is a global network of farmers, fibre producers and value chain partners working with underrepresented plant-based fibres. Think of abacá, pineapple, hemp, kapok etc.

Our vision is to create a diversified plant-based fibre market while nourishing nature and community. We are dedicated to promoting sustainable production, consumption, and utilization of plant-based fibres, empowering local communities, and combating climate change. Our approach is grounded in community engagement, knowledge exchange, collaboration, industry advocacy, and providing data-driven insights.

Founded in 2022 by industry pioneers Ananas Anam, Bananatex®, Regenerate Fashion, and Circular Systems, the Fibral Material Alliance was established to provide a unified voice for underrepresented plant-based fibres. We serve as a platform for exchange and a support system to accelerate sustainable practices.


In just two years, the Fibral community has grown to represent a significant share of global plant fibre market stakeholders across 25 countries.

Technical Focus

The focus of this role is to support the development and dissemination of key insights into the plant-based fibre market through data collection, analysis, and technical writing. This includes contributing to the development of an annual market report, assisting with website content updates, and supporting additional technical projects. The role requires experience in research, data analysis, and scientific writing.


Responsibilities


Market Report Development

You will play a pivotal role in developing our annual market report, providing comprehensive insights into the plant-based fibres market. This report aims to establish a reliable baseline for global market analysis of the plant-based fibre sector, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions and driving the integration of these fibres into mainstream markets. The report will give insights on market size, value, forecasts, market drivers, and trends.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the collection of quantitative and qualitative data from alliance members and other industry stakeholders through surveys, interviews, and roundtables.
  • Developing, expanding, and maintaining databases on global production data.
  • Performing data analysis, modeling, technical writing, and commodity market projections.
  • Conducting desk research to analyze market trends, drivers, and relevant policy developments.


Website Content Development

We are redesigning our website to become a comprehensive hub for the plant-based fibre industry, featuring technical details on various fibre groups, the latest industry news, relevant public discussions, and more.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the drafting and preparation of studies and technical articles (e.g., reports, papers, news blogs) to disseminate the results of our analytical work.
  • This may also include written content for other social media purposes.


Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a program in Agriculture, Agroforestry, Agricultural Economics, Natural Resource Management, Development Economics or a related field.
  • Proven experience in research and technical writing is essential.
  • Initial experience in commodity market analysis, including the application of statistical methods to analyze data, is desirable.
  • A strong enthusiasm for plant fibres, material innovation, circularity, economic development, and regenerative practices.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both verbal and written, are indispensable.
  • Working experience with plant fibres is a plus.
