The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (Leibniz-HKI) investigates the pathobiology of microorganisms and develops novel natural product-based anti-infectives. The Leibniz-HKI invites talented and highly qualified candidates to apply for a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/div) on "Therapeutic Microbes"
for two years initially, with the perspective to establish an own research group.We expect:
- A PhD (or equivalent) in life sciences, preferably in microbiology or synthetic biology, degree obtained no longer than four years ago
- An excellent track record in your research area as well as successful interdisciplinary cooperation
- The ability to work creatively and independently towards developing your own research group
- An integrative personality with enthusiasm for actively participating in the dynamic Leibniz-HKI community
- The willingness to apply for further third-party funding and contribute to collaborative projects
- We encourage applications from researchers who spent time abroad and wish to return to Germany to establish a scientific career here Your tasks: The successful candidate will aim to develop genetically modified microorganisms for therapeutic use that are targeted directly to the site of the disease, for example in the gut, to release anti- infective compounds. The goal is to develop effective treatments against pathogens while keeping the native microbiome intact. The project "Therapeutic Microbes" will strengthen our research in synthetic biology and enhance the translational approaches to develop new treatments for infectious diseases.
We seek applications from highly committed postdoctoral researchers with international experience and an outstanding scientific track record. Candidates with background in microbiology or synthetic biology and enthusiasm for both translational science as well as novel therapeutic concepts are welcome to apply.
The group will be integrated into the Leibniz-HKI, embedded in an outstanding scientific environment with state-of-the-art research facilities and top equipment. It will be closely associated with the Leibniz Center for Photonics in Infection Research (LPI). The successful candidate is expected to actively collaborate within our interdisciplinary research community. She/He will be encouraged to participate in the structured doctoral training programs ILRS (International Leibniz Research School for Microbial and Biomolecular Interactions) and JSMC (Jena School for Microbial Communication) and the Cluster of Excellence Balance of the Microverse.We offer:
