About this role

Reporting into the Country Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the trading process, working cross-functionally to build and execute a trading plan that delivers results for the business. 

These are some of the key ingredients to the role
 

  • Development of overall Germany Trading Strategy: Working cross-functionally and with the Commercial Directors to build and develop the overall trading strategy for the German business, ensuring that we have full funnel plans for all KPIs that drive overall order performance

  • Manage and deliver upon the overall trading plan: Collaborate with marketing, commercial and the delivery team to align on how our customer, commercial and delivery plan pull together into a conclusive trade driving plan, ensuring that activity is sized in terms of contribution to the budget and ROI. Plan and execute the trading plan to ensure that we are meeting the strategic objectives and outcomes, delivering against our budget targets across functions and as a business as a whole

  • Weekly trading meetings: Lead the cross-functional weekly trade meeting with key senior stakeholders, reporting clearly against performance to data and forecasted performance to come, manage trading forecasts vs. budget and highlighting where there are opportunities and risks to performance based on our current trade plan

  • Building out trade playbook: Ensure that activity is retrospectively reviewed and measured against benefit to the business, providing insight into the wider business and building out a clear playbook in terms of trading levers, their effectiveness and the ROI we can expect to see in their future implementation

  • Go To Market: Work closely with the marketing team to be the single point of contact on the commercial side of the business to ensure we are maximising supply led customer plan activations e.g. specific moments/promotions


 

What will you bring to the table

  • Previous experience within a trading role in an e-commerce or retail environment, preferably within a marketplace business, with the proven ability to achieve against set targets

  • Good working knowledge across Supply and Demand side functions, such as Marketing and Sales

  • Analytical, able to frame and drive commercial analysis and turn them into concrete insights, actions and business improvement opportunities. This role will have the support of Analysts for complex insights, but the individual needs to analyse and interpret data independently

  • Strong critical thinking with the ability to assess a situation logically and systematically to arrive at the most objective conclusions

  • Curiosity for opportunities to optimise trading performance - looking at latest insights and continuously striving to understand how trade activations performed so we can improve

  • Exceptional influencing and matrix management skills, with experience working cross-functionally and fostering a collaborative work environment

  • Strong commercial instinct and entrepreneurial drive combined with the ability to be innovative, take initiative and calculated risks

  • Relentless, results-oriented, someone who goes the extra mile to get the job done
