Your responsibilities
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
The development of serial crystallography at X-ray free-electron lasers gives opportunities to measure time-dependent structures of functioning photoactive macromolecules, in real time. This project aims to extend time-resolved crystallography capabilities, as well as ultrafast spectroscopic tools, and apply them to the investigation of the structure and dynamics of flavoenzymes.
Typical tasks are:
design of flavoenzyme constructs, recombinant expression, protein purification conducting serial femtosecond crystallography experiments, including at XFELs performing ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy, including both the conduct of experiments and data analysis managing projects, including complex XFEL-based teamwork communicating scientific results in the form of peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations preparing grant applications to secure third-party funding
Your profile
A university degree in a relevant field, plus doctorate.
The profile of the candidate:
a PhD in physics, biophysics, structural biology, or a related field expertise in expression, purification, and characterization of recombinant flavoproteins expertise building and operating ultrafast laser apparatuses expertise in conducting and analyzing of transient absorption measurements of photoactive proteins demonstrated ability to work in a shared laboratory through activities as a safety officer or equivalent basic programming skills in a high-level programming language such as Python proficient in spoken and written English a demonstrated track record of presenting scientific work at international meetings experience teaching or mentoring junior scientists
