Flavoenzyme Research Scientist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at Universität Hamburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the field of time-resolved spectroscopy and crystallography of flavoenzymes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop flavoenzyme constructs for recombinant expression and protein purification
- Conduct serial femtosecond crystallography experiments, including at XFELs
- Perform ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy, including data analysis
- Manage projects, including complex XFEL-based teamwork
- Communicate scientific results through peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations
- Prepare grant applications to secure third-party funding
Requirements
- PhD in physics, biophysics, structural biology, or a related field
- Expertise in expression, purification, and characterization of recombinant flavoproteins
- Experience building and operating ultrafast laser apparatuses
- Expertise in conducting and analyzing transient absorption measurements of photoactive proteins
- Demonstrated ability to work in a shared laboratory environment
- Basic programming skills in a high-level programming language such as Python
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Demonstrated track record of presenting scientific work at international meetings
- Experience teaching or mentoring junior scientists
