Senior Underwriter Liability

We are looking for a Senior Underwriter Liability (m/f/d), based in Munich, Frankfurt, Köln, Hamburg or Stuttgart.

The Impact You Will Have
You will underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet the line of business targets regionally including global elements. You will take ownership of large key accounts and clients including negotiation of participation, pricing and terms and conditions as well as train and development the team and act as referral point for senior underwriters. It is crucial for this role to develop and maintain strong relationships with critical brokers and clients.

Some Of Your Specific Responsibilities Could Include

• Underwrite large complex new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets as well as in line with Liability governance framework - e. g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules, and Principles.
• Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers.
• Ensure accurate policy documentation and file maintenance.
• Proactively drive acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary).
• Manage referrals from underwriters and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate.
• Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market including very large clients.
• Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e. g. Allianz Risk Consulting, Claims and Operations.
• Propose an optimal portfolio structure and anticipate portfolio development trends

What You'll Bring To The Role

• Preferably a degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline.
• Completion of professional insurance qualification (e. g. CII).
• Significant experience in (cross-border) Underwriting profitable business in Liability and understanding of products and portfolio accordingly.
• Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to Liability.
• Well established relationships with brokers and recognized as expert within market.
• Expert understanding of regional / local insurance markets and competitor landscape, including significant global elements as well as respective legal and regulatory framework.
• Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation.
• Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions.
• Significant experience working in complex, global matrix organization.
• Fluent German and good English skills.
• Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
