**Job Opportunity**:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Property Underwriter specialized in multinational mittelstand customers (brokered business) and all industrial occupancies to join the German Property team in Hamburg.

We are seeking an individual who is intelligent, passionate and who is always striving towards excellence.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Solicit and underwrite new and renewal property submissions which includes primary/excess layers, multi-year policies and other bespoke structural placements, all within the BHSI risk appetite
- Grow the mittelstand property book of business
- Establish, develop, and expand broker & reinsurance broker relationships, working both independently and in conjunction with other BHSI product lines as well as with the BHSI risk engineering team
- Analyze reports such as catastrophe modelling, risk engineering reports, valuation documentation, etc.
- Review and approve policy terms and conditions
- Work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**:

- 5+ years commercial insurance experience with a special focus on large property accounts and all industrial occupancies
- Strong existing broker relationships
- Strong underwriting acumen and attention to detail
- Good understanding of CAT peril modeling/pricing preferred
- Strong understanding of policy forms, including broker wordings
- Strong collaboration and team building skills
- Strong communication skills including negotiation, communication, and presentation experience
- Willingness to travel as required
- Degree or equivalent education, and/or strong insurance qualifications are preferred
- Fluency in German and English
