**Job Opportunity**:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity as Senior Marine Underwriter to join the team in our brand-new office in Hamburg.

We are seeking an individual who is intelligent, passionate and who is always striving towards excellence.

You should be comfortable to collaborate closely with internal & external stakeholders and underwriters from across the broader team. In addition, necessary character, relationship building and negotiating skills to help lead and further build a profitable book of business are of the upmost importance.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Develop and grow the profitable book of Marine business, predominantly Marine Cargo
- Managing of Multinational Programs
- Establish, develop, and expand broker, agents and customer relationships in the region
- Underwrite assigned accounts while ensuring appropriate analysis and documentation
- Work in a fast-paced, bottom line-oriented environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity
- Effectively communicate BHSI value proposition and demonstrate leadership in the region

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**:

- 5+ years of Marine Cargo underwriting experience
- Broader knowledge in other Marine product classes is definitely a plus
- Existing broker and customer relationships, or the experience and ability to develop strong broker and customer relationships quickly
- Strong underwriting acumen and attention to detail
- Strong collaboration and team building skills
- Strong communication skills
- Degree or equivalent education, and/or strong insurance qualifications
- Some travel will be required
- Fluency in German and English
