General Job Description
The Technical Manager will be responsible for a fleet of vessels, acting as the primary point of contact between the vessel, the Crew and the Fleet Operations.

They will work under direct supervision and reporting to the operations management in Hamburg office.

This position can be based in
Hamburg, Germany or South of France
.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as the main point of contact for the vessel, between Crew, Operations team, suppliers.
  • Technical Superintendency role for a fleet of vessels (private and commercial).

  • Technical coordination and supervision of the assigned fleet:

  • Planned maintenance supervision across the fleet.

  • Spare parts, inventories, and stock control. Technical Procurement.
  • Budget maintenance responsibility and supervision
  • Suppliers and contractor's selection, negotiation, coordination, and supervision
  • Liaison and responsibility of Class & Flag technical requirements, including preparation and attendance for surveys.
  • Coordination and preparation of regular dry docks for the vessel.
  • Technical operation cost optimization

  • Continuous improvement of systems / process / contractors and product innovation.

  • Participation in the Emergency Response Team if required.

  • Supervision and coordination of New Build Project Management Activities.
  • Provide consultancy on technical matters.
  • Helping with any other ad hoc tasks reasonably requested.

Requirements
Essential

  • Sea-going experience as Chief Engineer rank position.
  • Qualifications: Chief Engineer Unlimited Certificate. Any diploma in Technical Superintendency and/or Project Management would be highly advantageous.
  • Shore based experience as Technical Manager, Project Manager or Technical Superintendent whether in the Yachting / Cruise Ships / Ferry / Offshore Industry.
  • Knowledge and relationship with shipyards and main yacht specific contractors.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of PMS software systems.
  • Minimum 10 years' overall experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, diplomacy skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels (dealing with Owners on occasions, Captains, suppliers and various stakeholders).
  • Effective solution finding, autonomous, disciplined and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Able to perform under stressful situations, involving multicultural environment and diverse topics.
  • Sound knowledge of ISM/ISPS, SOLAS and regulatory frameworks of the industry.
  • Solid experience and knowledge of AV/IT aspects in ever complex features on-board would be highly beneficial.
  • Very good knowledge of budget aspects, control and financial reporting related to technical matters – refits, maintenance, surveys, repairs, spare parts orders and inventories, etc.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) and proficiency in other languages will be advantageous.
  • Able to operate autonomously and self-disciplined.
  • Technical and Service minded, client oriented.
  • Good sense of humour.
