Scientist - Assay Development [f/m/d]

**Your mission**:
With immediate effect, we are looking to hire a passionate** Scientist [f/m/d]** into our Assay Development team.
You will play a pivotal role in the execution, supervision, planning, and data analysis of experiments related to assay chemistry and sample preparation. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and optimize spatial transcriptomics assays, with a focus on sensitivity, specificity, and throughput.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in spatial genomics and shape the future of pathology. This is a full-time role, based in the company office in Monheim am Rhein, Germany, which comes with the opportunity to work with other company sites around the world.
**Responsibilities**:
- Design and execute experiments to develop and optimize assay chemistry and sample preparation for mapping gene expression in intact tissues.
- Supervise and mentor laboratory staff in assay execution, sample preparation techniques, and data analysis procedures.
- Plan and coordinate experimental workflows to meet project milestones and objectives.
- Analyze spatial transcriptomics data using advanced computational and statistical methods to extract meaningful biological insights.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Computational Biology, Data Science, and Engineering, to integrate spatial transcriptomics assays into product development pipelines.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in spatial genomics and contribute to the advancement of assay platforms.
- Work effectively internally and with external partners in achieving shared project goals and timelines.
**Your profile**:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, or related field with 2+ years of experience, optimally in industry environment.
- Proven experience in assay development, optimally with a focus on single molecule FISH, spatial transcriptomics, or single-cell RNA sequencing.
- Proficiency in a wide range of laboratory techniques, including histology, molecular biology, Fluorescence in-situ hybridization, Immunohistochemistry/Immunofluorescence.
- Experience with high-throughput fluorescence microscopy is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with a strong attention to scientific detail.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor scientific teams in a laboratory environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in data analysis and interpretation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
- Experience with spatial genomics technologies, such as spatially resolved transcriptomics or in situ sequencing, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and software (R or Python) for spatial data analysis is a plus.
- Structured, team-oriented, common goal mindset, excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally if the need should arise.
