At the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences I, Institute of Biochemistry and

Biotechnology, Department of Microbial Biotechnology, as part of a third-party funded project, a position is

available at the next possible date until 31.12.2027 for a

Research Assistant (M/F/d)

The position, full time or part time (65%), will start at the next possible date and is yet funded until 31.12.2027

(extension possible).

The salary will be up to Entgeltgruppe E13, depending on the tasks assigned and fulfillment of personal re
- quirements

**Tasks**:
Topic in the joint project “Value Plant”: Protection of bees against various pathogens with efficiently designed

ribonucleic acids
- _In vitro identification of efficient small RNAs (esiRNAs) against bee viruses and against the varroa mite; de-_
- sign of efficient dsRNA (edsRNA) compounds against both pathogens_
- Conducting and optimizing experiments to protect honeybees and bumblebees against pathogens using

efficient RNA molecules and different formulations
- Evaluation of experimental results using molecular biological, bioinformatic and pathogen-specific meth
- ods; close cooperation with the Institute of Biology, Department of Zoology and the Institute of Computer

Science, Department of Bioinformatics

**Requirements**:

- Experience in working with honeybees, bumblebees and varroa mites
- Interest in the development of RNA-based actives
- Good command of English and German language
- High level of motivation and ability to work in a team
