Future with tradition - shaping science: The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) offers a wide

university in Saxony-Anhalt was created in 1817 from the merger of the universities in Wittenberg (1502) and

Halle (1694). Today it has 340 professors and 20,000 students. Her research focuses on materials and life

sciences, enlightenment research, and social and cultural research.

At the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences II, Institute of Physics is seeking,

to fill the temporary position until 31.1.22027 at the earliest possible date of a

Research assistant (m-f-d) (postdoctoral fellow)

in full time.

Payment is based on the assignment of tasks and fulfillment of personal requirements up to salary group 13

TV-L.

This position is funded by the European Center of Just Transition Research and Impact-Driven Transfer (JTC).

The JTC is set up as an interdisciplinary research center at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg,

which deals with questions of the fair organization of techno-socio-economic changes in central German

transformation regions and links the questions of the day after tomorrow with current challenges.

An innovation team dealing with bifunctional catalysis materials of green molecules has be established within

this framework to investigate the conversion of renewable energies.

Work tasks:

- Design and manufacture of highly efficient catalysts/electrodes for the electrochemical conversion of re
- newable energies, e. g. electrochemical water splitting, CO2 reduction or other molecular conversion reac
- tions
- Set up and carry out in-situ measurements to investigate the reaction mechanism
- Supervision of BSc and MSc theses
- Assisting in the supervision of doctoral theses
- Data analysis and manuscript writing

**Requirements**:

- Completed scientific university studies in chemistry, materials science, physics and/or a similar field
- Completed doctorate in chemistry, materials science, physics and/or a similar field
- Experience in the development of electrocatalysts and with various electrochemical reactions
- Experimental experience with in-situ methods for detecting electrochemical conversion products
- Experience with DFT simulations to study the reaction mechanism
- Knowledge in one of the areas: nanotechnology, electrochemistry, photoelectrochemistry, artificial photo
- synthesis, semiconductor physics
- Ability and willingness to collaborate in an international team
