Labcorp Early Development Services GmbH is an internationally recognized contract research organization providing scientific services to the pharmaceutical industry. The company is located in Münster / Westphalia.

For the purpose of developing innovative human biologics and pharmaceuticals, the company conducts studies on non-human primates for international clients. Research spirit, high scientific standards and GLP quality standards are in line with consistent animal welfare and transparency. Münster is one of a group of research sites on three continents. The site, which currently has almost 300 employees, is being successively expanded and adapted to the latest standards, and it is among Europe’s leaders in primate husbandry. Clients are almost exclusively globally active pharmaceutical companies.

Labcorp is involved in nearly 90% of all worldwide drug developments. In the context of a retirement succession we are looking for a veterinarian (M/F/d) as the Head of Veterinary Services Research (m/w/d)

The scope of duties and responsibilities:

- You are a leading member of the Veterinary Services & Animal Welfare group, which is spread over ten research centers worldwide, and are responsible for maintaining the health and curative veterinary care of the animals at the Münster site.
- You will be responsible for the disciplinary management of the six veterinary staff on site, as well as the technical supervision of several veterinary assistants. You will reach annual target agreements with the veterinarians in your team.
- The most important internal interfaces in Münster are the study directors, colleagues in quality assurance, pathologists, the animal trainers and animal welfare officers for the animal house as well as the management. You will remain in regular contact with your international colleagues via video.
- You ensure that the appropriate staff is available and properly scheduled.
- You optimize the personnel processes within the location through targeted networking of the workforce.
- Externally, you are in contact with customers and authorities during the preparation of the studies and are the direct contact person in case of unforeseen events. You interact with the study managers on a permanent basis during implementation.
- The preparation and follow-up of audits by the relevant authorities and customers are part of your regular tasks.
- You will be responsible for the correct management of the veterinary pharmacy.
- Advising the research scientists on compliance with the 3Rs principle is one of the most important functions of your work.
- You monitor the comprehensive import of animals including supplier management, logistics, housing and quarantine.
- As an internal consultant to the sales organization, you will assist in assessing the feasibility of customer requests. You will clarify the technical requirements, the necessary technical or methodological competences as well as the necessity of pilot studies for the practical feasibility of preclinical studies.
- Annual participation, publications and presentations e.g. at FELASA and Eurotox congresses.
- Organize and hold internal training sessions.
- Your reporting line leads directly to the Head of Veterinary Services USA & Germany and indirectly to the General manager of the Münster site. The requirements:

- You have studied veterinary medicine and bring along some years of expertise in laboratory animal science.
- Ideally - but not mandatory - you are a specialist veterinarian for laboratory animal science and have the corresponding authorization for further training.
- You have already managed staff for several years and can guide colleagues and staff in a situation-appropriate manner.
- Your leadership style is convincing due to a targeted promotion and further development of the professional and personal skills of employees.
- You are familiar with drug development.
- You are interested in becoming exceptionally familiar with all topics related to primate health and also in taking a curative or surgical hand yourself, or you know how to entrust these tasks to qualified colleagues.
- Your creative way of working allows you to find unusual solutions.
- Methodical work is one of your professional strengths.
- Your personality is characterized by tact, diplomatic skills and scientific curiosity.
- You are familiar with the peculiarities of a multinational organization and know how to navigate such an organization well.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, sometimes for several days and/or intercontinentally.
- You are fluent in German and English and are able to express yourself regarding scientific topics in a routine manner.
