As Head of National Taxation, you will be integral part of the Tax & Treasury Organization of Daimler Truck (FTT) and report to the Head of Tax. FTT Tax is responsible for the worldwide tax governance of the Daimler Truck group. You will be responsible to implement Daimler Truck’s Leadership culture and principles within your team of currently ~13 tax colleagues and to implement and pursue the overall goals of the company and the Finance & Controlling area. You ensure diversity, trustful collaboration, clear communication and coordination between the teams and with all business partners wherever required and possible.

Your main task will be to ensure tax compliance for the German part of the group (i.e. Daimler Truck Holding AG and its German subsidiaries). This includes - inter alia - all corporate income tax, trade tax, real estate (transfer) tax, value added tax (VAT) and wage tax issues in Germany but also VAT compliance of the German entities abroad. Moreover, your task includes proper tax risk management, all related topics of tax controversy and tax planning within the guidelines of our tax strategy. Special tax topics concerning pensions assets and real estate issues need as well to be managed.

In more detail, you can expect the following challenges in this role:

- Leading, motivating and developing your team, which includes to ensure proper internal communication, fulfillment of goals and trainings that fit to people and tasks
- Ensure that all relevant guidelines and processes for the area of responsibility are fulfilled
- Ensure that all legal tax obligations are fulfilled for the German Daimler Truck group, especially timely preparation and filing of tax returns and timely payment of taxes
- Determine, initiate and shape processes that are relevant for financial statements and tax filings of all kind; provide respective tax input for planning and financial statement purposes
- Ensure VAT compliance of the German Daimler Truck entities abroad and coordinate service providers wherever required
- Represent Daimler Truck entities in relation to tax authorities in Germany and abroad and pursue the enforcement of legal positions of Daimler Truck (e.g. within tax filing, tax audits, appeals and court proceedings)
- Optimize the structure of the German Daimler Truck group from tax point of view considering business requirements (e.g. within any kind of reorganizations, especially foundations, purchase and sale of legal entities, mergers and splits, group financing, selection of legal entity form and location, implementation of tax groups, optimization of wage tax and VAT for company cars or supply chain improvements)
- Actively recognize tax risks, evaluate such risks and ensure proper treatment/provision for such risks also within financial statements and within internal planning and communication
- Prepare and implement tax related guidelines, procedural instructions and process descriptions
- Monitor and analyze tax law and business model changes and ensure implementation of any required changes/adjustments
- Take influence on tax law environment via association work
- Drive innovation and automatization of the tax department

Qualifikationen

Qualifications and Experience:

- Master/Diploma or comparable degree in business administration or legal with focus on Tax
- Qualification as Certified German Tax Advisor (Steuerberater*in)
- Many years professional experience in leading positions of industrial companies
- Very firm knowledge regarding the broad range of German tax law
- Flexibility and team-oriented attitude
- Inspiring personality and good communication skills
- Good and solution-oriented decision making
- Very good German and English language skills
