Head of Sustainability

AutoScout24 has made a rapid start in building out their Sustainability & ESG Strategy, leveraging resources from different departments such as Communications, Procurement and HR, and with the support of Hellman & Friedman, the company’s majority owner. An example of this progress and leadership is with the Company’s recent commitment to set a science-based carbon reduction goal.

We are looking for a Head of Sustainability (M/F/d) to continue to advance our progress on sustainability, lead and execute ESG performance and reporting in line with emerging external requirements, working cross-functionally across the organization.

Role description

The key responsibilities of the Head of Sustainability will include:

- Continually enhance and drive forward the company’s Sustainability and ESG goals and initiatives, such as delivering on its carbon reduction targets.
- Own and deliver the Company’s Annual ESG Report, working with stakeholders in different functions across the organisation, ensuring it is aligned with external standards such as GRI and SASB, the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and taking it through external assurance.
- Deploy and manage systems to collect and analyse relevant and required ESG KPIs and performance across the organisation, including the annual carbon footprint and other relevant KPIs
- Maintain visibility of best practices and benchmarks across the industry, and emerging ESG regulations, ensuring that AutoScout24 is ready for new legal and stakeholder expectations on ESG.
- Maintain dialogue with current investors on ESG best practices, including participating in Hellman & Friedman’s ESG Community.
- Manage relationships with external ESG vendors.
- Establish key ESG priorities with relevant stakeholders.

Required experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working directly in the sustainability and ESG space, either in-house or in an advisory / delivery capacity.
- Track record of managing delivery and creation of Annual Sustainability / ESG reports.
- Strong knowledge of best practice ESG standards and current / emerging regulations such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, EU CSRD, etc.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability with strong expertise in e.g. Excel.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage cross-functional projects involving inputs from a group of diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Evidence of working collaboratively with stakeholders, peers and advisors.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as sustainable development, environmental science, economics / finance.

Additional experience that is preferred but not essential, includes:

- Working within the technology/software space in a sustainability/ESG capacity.
- Working knowledge of investor expectations and requirements from portfolio companies on ESG.
- Familiarity with the requirements of ESG audit and assurance and ESG performance management tools.

This role is based in Munich, Germany, and the company’s HQ, with the possibility of a hybrid working model. Additional travel may be required such as attending Hellman & Friedman’s Annual ESG Leaders Summit, among others.
