Head of Accounting Offshore Germany

The Head of Accounting Germany is part of the Offshore Accounting Management team and is supporting our local subsidiaries in Germany. Working with RWE AG global support functions,
such as Finance, Legal and Tax, the Head of Accounting Germany is responsible for supporting the growth in our offshore business and provides guidance for compliance with RWE Offshore policies and procedures.

**Responsibilities**

**RWE Group Reporting**
- Provide quarterly IFRS financial reporting to RWE OFF Financial Reporting team, ensuring data is complete and delivered on time and to good quality. Take ownership of data submission with appropriate level of review.
- Coordinate the annual group audit process, through effective planning, technical accounting support, resolution of judgmental areas and preparation / review of technical accounting memos.
- Implement RWE Group financial policies within the country.

**Local compliance and audit**
- Ensure each company within RWE OFF Germany is compliant with financial law and regulation, including preparation and filing of statutory accounts compliant with local GAAP.
- Plan and manage the annual statutory audit within budget, ensuring clean audit report.
- Manage dividend planning and proposals at entity level for Germany and coordinate dividend planning for the complete Offshore segment. Providing RWE AG with accurate dividend forecasts.
- Work with sister finance teams (Projects & Investments, Controlling, Tax, Finance) to ensure that local companies are appropriately financed, e.g. by reviewing cash call requirements and coordinating draw down from parent companies.
- Act as the Finance Director (as required) for a small number of subsidiary companies located in Germany. Supporting all statutory tasks and ensure company compliance and governance.

**Team work, team management and Service Level Agreement**
- Manage the interface and service level agreements with external accounting service providers & consultants as necessary to ensure quality reporting, to time, budget and quality.
- Line management of a team of qualified accountants located in Germany (Essen & Hamburg) with responsibility for professional development and objective setting.
- Maintain (and encourage team to maintain) good understanding of developments in each offshore site and proactively manage accounting implications of new contracts, contract amendments or changes in circumstances (take local ownership for project support).
- Develop and foster strong relationships with sister finance teams “RWE OFF House of Finance” to ensure RWE OFF Finance function is speaking with “one voice”.

**Systems & Controls**
- Work closely with RWE AG Global Accounting Systems, Global Accounting Process teams and the shared service center to ensure controls are effective.
- Design, implement and monitor effectiveness of financial control environment for RWE OFF companies within Germany - to ensure that primary entry is accurate and free from error.
- Support RWE Offshore global accounting community to standardise their use of system & processes to ensure consistency across the segment. Sharing best practice across the community on a project basis.
- Communicate accounting controls and process with local team to ensure that there is clarity of role and responsibility.

**Project support and advice**
- Primary business partner representing OFF Accounting for all projects in Germany. Ensure that:, Local accounting implications are considered., Collaborate with Financial Reporting and Projects Team (based in Essen) to assist Project and Team understanding of IFRS implications, providing input into to Gate Paper and sign off process.
- Take active lead and ownership of tracking all development projects in the region and provide regular updates to wider OFF Accounting team.
- Provide analysis, commentary and ad-hoc advice to external investors and internal departments.
- Onboard and integrate newly acquired companies or development projects.
- Attend and present at board meetings where appropriate.
- Ensure that accounting responsibility for RWE OFF joint venture companies and management services is met.

**Qualifications**
- Excellent university degree in Economics or Business Administration. Post-graduate degree a plus.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in accounting (industry and/ or Big 4) and experience in leading a team in a matrix environment.
- Exposure to a variety of disciplines (e.g. accounting, finance, budgeting, project financing, report writing, operations, tax).
- Task and/or workstream management.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, highly adaptable and used to work in multiple projects simultaneously with different deadlines.
