Research Scientist (f/m/d)

Translational Biomarkers and Human Sample Acquisition

Full-time and temporary for two years

In this dual role, your key responsibilities are:

- Support the drug discovery efforts and develop new TE/PD biomarkers to treat neurodegenerative disorders, with a focus on CSF and imaging markers. This entails provision of scientific input, study design, and data interpretation for translatable efficacy models.
- Lead or co-lead one or more projects for clients (internal or external) in neurodegeneration and with a focus on (imaging) biomarkers
- Execute research in a matrix environment to support the development and validation of biomarkers, as well as lead a team of research assistants in this area
- Work with key stakeholders internally and externally to deliver high-quality biomarker data that enables advancement of the project
- Support the Human Sample Acquisition (HSA) global team with managing the request of the Evotec organization to find and select the best human samples needed for the experiments while ensuring compliance with all laws and Evotec’s policy
- Lead the efforts at a local level for the HSA team and drive forward all efforts on requests, communication with the vendors and be the first point of contact for questions regarding samples acquisition options and compliance

Your ideal qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Life Sciences or similar with several years of PostDoc experience in a similar role, preferably within Pharma or Biotech
- Expertise in biomarker discovery and development
- In depth knowledge of key technologies in the field of Translational Research such as Immuno-assays, protein measurements, binding assays, and ex vivo imaging assays (i.e. ARG)
- Experience in the acquisition and use of human materials with regards to compliance/regulatory documents and interaction with internal and external parties
- Hands-on experience in the development and validation of biomarker assays, such as immunoassays, RT-qPCR, NGS, proteomics or metabolomics is preferred
- Excellent organizational skills paired with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously to produce results against challenging timelines
- Excellent communication skills and a pro-active attitude
- The position requires fluent command of the English language; knowledge of German is a plus
