At the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences I, Institute of Biology,

Department of Plant Physiology, we are seeking to fill the temporary position until 31.12.2027 of a

PhD position (M/F/d)

in part-time (65%) at the earliest possible date.

Salaries will be according to “Entgeltgruppe” 13 TV-L, depending on the assigned tasks and individual quali
- fications.

**Tasks**:

- Work on developing and optimizing in planta transformation methods for crop plants
- Establishment and optimization of virus-induced genome editing (VIGE)
- Investigation of kinesin-driven plastid dynamics in crop stress resistance
- Conducting molecular biological and cell biological experiments
- Computer-aided analysis of experimental data
- Preparation of data for presentations and scientific manuscripts

**Requirements**:

- Completed scientific university degree (MSc degree or equivalent) in biology, biochemistry or a similar area
- In-depth knowledge of molecular biology and plant genetics
- Practical experience in genetic methods (including genome editing methods) and plant transformation
- Experience in microscopy and cell biological methods
- Basic knowledge and practical experience in protein biochemistry (e.g., protein extraction, Western blot, pro
- tein purification)
- Excellent English language skills (written and spoken)
- Ability to work in a team
- High level of intrinsic motivation
