Recreation Assistant

**Clarification from the agency**:

**Duties**:

- As a Recreation Assistant, performs a variety of technical and administrative work in the operation of the Performing Arts Center.
- Assisting with clerical and administrative functions necessary for the operation of the center, to include record keeping, inventory of supplies, and recommending ordering of depleted or other necessary supplies.
- Performing first level maintenance on all equipment to ensure that it is in operable condition. Identifying inoperable equipment and advising the supervisor of those needing higher level repair.
- Assisting in the construction of sets and scenery for varying productions, procurement of supplies and materials needed, and the operation of light and sound systems for these productions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:
**Conditions of employment**:

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation (childcare checks).
- This position may require a health screening. Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
- Must be able to work rotating shift to include evenings, weekends, holidays and Special MWR events.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.

**Qualifications**:
1. Prior experience participating in variety shows, bands and plays.
2. Prior experience in the construction of sets and scenery.
3. Prior experience with the operation of light and stage sound systems for the productions.

Highly Preferred
- Possess at least one (1) year experience with construction of sets and scenery.
- Possess at least one (1) year experience with lighting and stage sound systems.
- Experience with general maintenance of costumes which may include sewing, altering and repairs of costumes.

**Pay-Band Allowances and Differentials**
- Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. **_If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay._** Sunday premium may be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). - Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Night differential may be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
