Researcher in Population-Based Imaging Data Analysis

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD student to join our team at the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Medical Center - University of Freiburg. As a PhD student, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on the epidemiology of cardiometabolic disease.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct statistical analyses of population-based imaging data to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of cardiometabolic diseases.
- Identify relevant hypotheses and research questions to inform the development of personalized risk prediction, prevention, and treatment strategies.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, epidemiologists, computer scientists, and statisticians to design and implement research studies.
- Support the supervision of projects for research interns and MD students.
- Master's degree or comparable qualification in epidemiology, (bio-)statistics, data science, medicine/public health with strong quantitative focus, or comparable discipline.
- Excellent knowledge of basic statistical methods, including descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and regression modeling.
- Very good command of at least one statistical computing software, preferably R.
- Very good command of English language (written and spoken).
- First experience with the analysis of an epidemiological data set.
- Experience with population-based data and/or large data sets.
- Experience with advanced statistical methods, such as regularization, clustering, and mediation.
- Experience with scientific writing and publishing.
- Command of German language (written and spoken).
