We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD student to join our team at the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Medical Center - University of Freiburg. As a PhD student in Epidemiology of Cardiometabolic Disease, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on the investigation of prevalence and risk factors of common diseases using large population-based cohorts.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct statistical analyses of population-based imaging data, focusing on cardiometabolic phenotypes
- Identify relevant hypotheses and research questions
- Write scientific manuscripts for publication in international, peer-reviewed journals
- Collaborate and communicate with an inter-disciplinary team (physicians/clinicians, epidemiologists, computer scientists, statisticians)
- Support the supervision of projects for research interns and MD students
- Excellent Master's degree or comparable qualification in epidemiology, (bio-)statistics, data science, medicine/public health with strong quantitative focus, or comparable discipline
- Excellent knowledge of basic statistical methods (e.g. descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, regression modeling)
- Very good command of at least one statistical computing software, preferably R
- Very good command of English language (written and spoken)
- First experience with the analysis of an epidemiological data set
- Experience with population-based data and/or large data sets
- Experience with advanced statistical methods, e.g. regularization, clustering, mediation
- Experience with scientific writing and publishing
- Command of German language (written and spoken)
