PhD Researcher in Cardiometabolic Epidemiology

About Us
We are a multidisciplinary research group within the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Universitätsklinikum Freiburg, dedicated to understanding the epidemiology of cardiometabolic diseases. Our work leverages large population-based datasets to investigate disease prevalence, risk factors, and potential interventions.
Our Focus
We are currently exploring the role of medical imaging data within the NAKO cohort, a prominent German population study. This unique resource allows us to delve into the complex interplay between imaging biomarkers and cardiometabolic health outcomes.
Your Role
- Conduct statistical analyses on population-based imaging data, focusing on cardiometabolic phenotypes.
- Develop and refine research questions based on epidemiological insights.
- Contribute to the authorship of scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate effectively with a diverse team of researchers, including physicians, epidemiologists, computer scientists, and statisticians.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to research interns and medical students.
Your Profile
- Master's degree or equivalent in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, medicine/public health, or a related field with a strong quantitative emphasis.
- Proficiency in fundamental statistical methods (e.g., descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, regression modeling).
- Expertise in at least one statistical computing software, preferably R.
- Excellent command of English language (written and spoken).
- Prior experience analyzing epidemiological datasets.
Beneficial Skills
- Experience with population-based data and/or large datasets.
- Familiarity with advanced statistical methods, such as regularization, clustering, or mediation analysis.
- Proven track record of scientific writing and publication.
- Knowledge of the German language (written and spoken).
