Statistical Analyst in Cardiometabolic Health

About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD student to join our team at the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Medical Center - University of Freiburg. As a PhD student, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on the epidemiology of cardiometabolic disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct statistical analyses of population-based imaging data, focusing on cardiometabolic phenotypes.
  • Identify relevant hypotheses and research questions.
  • Write scientific manuscripts for publication in international, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate and communicate with an inter-disciplinary team, including physicians, epidemiologists, computer scientists, and statisticians.
  • Support the supervision of projects for research interns and MD students.
Requirements
  • Excellent Master's degree or comparable qualification in epidemiology, (bio-)statistics, data science, medicine/public health with a strong quantitative focus, or a comparable discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of basic statistical methods, including descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and regression modeling.
  • Very good command of at least one statistical computing software, preferably R.
  • Very good command of the English language (written and spoken).
  • First experience with the analysis of an epidemiological data set.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with population-based data and/or large data sets.
  • Experience with advanced statistical methods, such as regularization, clustering, and mediation.
  • Experience with scientific writing and publishing.
  • Command of the German language (written and spoken).
