As a Metrology Engineer, you will be part of the Alignment Team within the AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test) department, responsible for all alignment tasks during satellite integration phases. This includes precise alignment of various instruments such as star trackers, propulsion thrusters, and other components.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support satellite projects in creating alignment plans, including checking alignment requirements, converting them into alignment plans, identifying measurement methods, and defining a suitable sequence of measurements.
  • Create necessary procedures for alignment and carry out measurements with theodolites, laser trackers, and SpatialAnalyzer.
  • Evaluate measurement results and summarize them in test reports.
  • Train personnel on recurring measurement tasks and develop standards for alignment measurements.

Requirements

  • Completed engineering studies in surveying, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or a comparable qualification.
  • Focus on optical measurements with several years of professional experience.
  • Familiarity with theodolites and laser trackers, as well as good knowledge of SpatialAnalyzer as a tool for measurement execution and analysis.
  • Ideal experience with alignment in space and necessary documentation, high communication and teamwork skills, motivation, and ability to work independently, and high flexibility.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, knowledge of German is an advantage.
